This excellent new book, curated by Martin Dodge, was been supported by the Society and is available at meetings. Free to members, £6.50 to non-members. It contains illustrations and text from The Manchester Guardian in the early 1900s.

The Eccles & District History Society  meets on the second Wednesday of the month, from September to May. 

 The Society  meets at Alexandra House, 395 Liverpool Road, Peel Green, Eccles, Manchester M30 7HB.

 Guest speakers are invited to give talks and presentations on a wide range of topics relating to both local and national history. 

Excursions, guided walks and visits to places of interest are also arranged. Please see the Visits page for details.

 The annual membership fee is £22 and the visitor’s fee is £4.00 per meeting. 

The Society is a represented on the Salford Local History Forum.

The emblem of the Eccles & District History Society is the boar's head. 
 This emblem was once the heraldic device of the Lords of the Manor of Barton, the Booth family.
 
The boar's head is featured on the coat of arms of the Borough of Eccles(1892),
 and on those of the City of Salford(1974).
